This version, also called the tamagotchi connection/connexion, is equivalent to the tamagotchi plus. Also, it can connect to the tamagotchi plus. Until the Familitchi/ Version 5 was released it was the only version that was exactly equivalent to the Japanese counterpart. It has two games, Jump and Dance. These games are
not to be confused with the games Jump (Version 2 game) and Dance (Version 4 game.)
Jump is played by pressing the B button at the correct moment so that the tamagotchi jumps over the hurdles it is running towards. In Dance, the tamagotchi demonstrates a combination of dance moves. When it is finished, the user must repeat the dance moves exactly. The combination gets harder as the game goes on.
Above is a growth chart for the Version 1. This version (along with the tamagotchi plus) was the second to have genders (the first was Mesutchi and Osutchi.) This was because tamagotchis now had the ability to mate with other tamagotchis and produce children, which you also cared for. This could be done in two main ways namely connecting to another tamagotchi, or the matchmaker.
To mate by connection, the first step is always to find a friend with a tamagotchi of the opposite gender to yours that is approximately the same age as yours. When your tamagotchi are both adults, make sure you both have at least half an hour free. Now you just have to connect your tamagotchi. To connect them, have both you and your friend go to the connection icon on your tamas. Then both press the B button twice. If it says 'connect' on both the screens, you're doing ok. Now your two tamagotchis will either visit each other or play a game together.
Each tamagotchi character has an item or two which it reiceives through connection and it can then play with it. Any time you want when not connecting you can view your new friend's character, name, gender, and friendship level. The friendship level must increase to four hearts before your tamagotchis can mate. The different friendship levels are acquaintance (one smile), buddy (two smiles), friend (three smiles), good friend (four smiles), in love or best friend (two hearts, two smiles), and mate (four hearts.)
Sadly, the tamagotchi is not as diverse as to have lesbian or gay relationships (I guess this might narrow the sales target range ;P) so if your friend is the same gender as you, you cannot advance past best friend (I called it in love but that is only for potential mates.)
Anyway, once you see that your tamagotchis both are ready to mate, connect them one more time. If they are going to mate, you will see them each do a dance on their own screens. (It looks a bit like the twist!) Next one tamagotchi leaves their screen to go to the other's as if to give a present. Instead, you see a heart indicating them in love and they kiss. Now the screen goes black and you see fireworks (;D!) After that, you see the female give birth to two live babies. You will be able to tell right away if they are boys or girls by their color (black=boy white=girl.) They will always be two boys or two girls (think of it like identical twins.) Then one will take off and land on the other tamagotchi's screen with the father. Both mother and baby and father and baby will jump for joy.
The parent and baby become inseparable until the midnight after 24 hours have passed. If you would like to view this occasion, wait until at least 24 hours have passed then set the time to 11:59 and wait one minute. You will see the adult say goodbye to the baby. If you would like to start caring for the baby right away, set the time to a time when it will be awake, usually after 8 am is safe. The tamagotchi will start to cry as soon as it has woken up and a label under it states its gender. Now press the B button and give it a new name.
